Which filament should I buy for my new 3d printer?

Hvilket filament skal jeg købe til min nye 3D printer? Fokus på PLA

Are you new to 3d printing - have you just got your new 3d printer or are you taking the initial steps towards plunging into the 3d printer universe - then I want to write here a little about the questions we often get when a customer calls in to get guidance on filament selection.

What most people use and what is "best" in everyday life.

We always recommend new and experienced users to get some PLA filament for their 3d printer.

I don't want to go into a lot of detail in this thread about what PLA filament is, but in short it is a biodegradable plastic - it is super strong - easy to print with - is not toxic (particle emission) and it is found in a myriad of colors and models.

A typical scenario could be that you as a customer have thoughts of buying a Creality (https://3deksperten.dk/collections/creality-3d-printer) 3d printer - they are incredibly popular and are happy to eat filament 🙂

How much filament to buy and which one?

As such, there is no right or wrong - there are countless good brands and models PLA - it is by far the most popular filament and you can get it from various suppliers and in all kinds of brands.

We have a reasonably large selection of PLA filaments and we generally recommend the models that we use ourselves, those that we have the least complaints about and what makes sense in terms of price and quality.

The clear bestseller at 3D Eksperten is 3DE Premium filament. In short, it is a filament we have developed over the last 12 years and have over time continuously optimized based on the feedback we have received from our many customers over the years.

A few things to write about it;

3DE Premium covers the entire spectrum of filament - from PLA/PETG/ABS/TPU-Rubber/PC/PP - exotic material in silky, bi- and tricolor, PBT, nylon and many more - so an incredibly broad and strong represented filament on the 3d printer market.

A good beginner PLA is definitely our 3DE Premium PLA - it can be found here (https://3deksperten.dk/collections/3de-premium-pla-1-75mm-1) and it is available in all colors and the most used is 1.75mm, which is used in e.g. Creality, Prusa MK3S+, Bamlab X1, Voron machines etc.

Briefly described, 3de premium PLA is a really good everyday filament - it is strong, has a good roundness, good heat resistance and generally gives good results in most machines.

If you want a little more strength - e.g. for items that are subject to heavy wear (it could be a new 3d printed battery holder for your screwdriver) then we can recommend 3DE Premium PLA MAX - it is a super strong PLA - it is very popular and known for good quality, high strength and so it excels in that we have secured it with a higher heat resistance, which makes it extremely good for machines / 3d printers that work in a closed cabinet or that use an all metal hotend, where normal PLA types can stop (hotend clog). It is available in all colors and typically comes, like most other models, on a 1kg coil. See the models here https://3deksperten.dk/collections/3de-premium-pla-max

If you are on a bit of a spree - need to make a new three-coloured kite for your mother-in-law or a shiny silk gold-coloured parakeet for your wife - then we have a reasonably large selection of bi- and tri-color filament (filament which is split with several colors in parallel), rainbow - a filament where it continuously changes colors, or a silky color that comes in with a clear shiny effect. It has become incredibly popular and is clearly recommended to get with your new 3d printer. See the models here https://3deksperten.dk/collections/3de-premium-eksotisk-pla

All in all, there are many good filaments on the market today and we have around 100 tons of material lying around in different colors and types - there is nothing right or wrong in relation to color and type - it is simply up to the individual person or the specific project you have in mind.

In short, you can use this list as inspiration for filaments that are often sold with a small, medium or large 3d printer

1x pirate black 1.75

1x snow white 1.75

1x slate grey 1.75

1x mailbox red 1.75

1x dimafix 400 ml lim

1x silky gold 1.75

1x silky silver 1.75

1x silky copper 1.75

There are countless different combinations and all colors print pretty much the same.
